Tacoma Venues & Events Presents SkillShops Series
Monthly series provides resources for community event producers
Tacoma Venues & Events (TVE) presents SkillShops, an innovative series of workshops designed to empower community members and event organizers with essential skills and resources to successfully plan and execute events in Tacoma. The first SkillShop, titled "Event Permitting Basics," took place on June 17 with 11 expert panelists presenting to more than 60 participants from the events community. This inaugural session provided attendees with crucial insights into the permitting process for events, and the video recording is now available for public viewing at this link, along with other online resources.
The SkillShops series will continue with the next session, "Funding & Grant Writing," scheduled for Monday, July 15 at 11 a.m. This workshop will offer valuable guidance on securing funding and writing successful grant applications. Register now at tacomavenues.org/skillshops.
Future SkillShops will cover a range of pertinent topics, including "Equity & Access," "Emergency Planning," and "Marketing & Sponsorship." These workshops will feature some of the event industry’s leaders providing tools and strategies to enhance the success of community events.
“SkillShops were created with the goal of helping event producers thrive in our community, enabling them to present safe and equitable events for Tacoma,” said DeMeSHee Pye, TVE Community Impact Coordinator. “We are thrilled with the reception of our first SkillShop and look forward to continuing the series as we strive to uplift event presenters.”
